Interested in adopting a senior dog? Great!
Here is how our process works:
Step 1: Check out our dogs
While not all of our dogs are ready for adoption just yet, we always have adoptable dogs that are waiting for their new home. You can view their photos and read their bios on our Petfinder page here:
Step 2: Fill out an application
If any of our adoptable dogs seem like they would be the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application for them here:
After you submit your application:
We will review all of the information you provide us on your form. We usually get multiple applications for each dog, so if we think it's a good match, our Adoption Coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a phone call.
From there, we will arrange a time for you to have a meet and greet with the dog. If sparks fly when you meet, you can usually take your dog home the same day!

How long does the application process take?
Once you submit an application, it will usually get reviewed within a day or two and if you're a fit, our adoption coordinator will email you pretty quickly.
We almost always have our meet and greets on the weekends, so depending on your availability and the dog's schedule (e.g. any planned vet appointments or procedures), it is possible to take your dog home within a week or so of filling out an application.
Can I meet your adoptable dogs before applying?
No, we only arrange meet and greets with pre-approved applicants.
I saw a dog on your social media, but they aren't listed as available for adoption. Why not?
The vast majority of the dogs we take in and post on our social media will be available for adoption at some point, but not everyone is ready to be adopted right away. We first need to get all of our dogs seen by our vet, treat any health issues, and/or schedule any procedures they may need. Once the dog does not need anything else from us medically, we will post them for adoption!
Why haven't I heard back from you about my application?
Due to the volume of applications we receive, we unfortunately cannot respond to each one individually. If you don't hear from us, it is because we decided to move forward with another applicant that we felt was a better fit for that particular dog.
What are your adoption fees?
We do not have adoption fees. Instead, we just encourage you to make a donation to us after adopting your dog.
Do you adopt out of state?
We are located in Rhode Island and are only able and licensed to adopt out to a few neighboring states in the New England area. We can not transport or adopt out our dogs to anyone anywhere else in the country.
